GEPP is a public limited company that comes from a merger between other companies that sell soft drinks. In this sense, the meaning of the initials refers to the initials of each of these companies. What is the history of GEPP?

Until 2011, the company in charge of distributing Pepsi products in Mexico was ‘The Pepsi Bottling Group Mexico’. However, that year there was a change in the commercialization of products in this country, as several businessmen began to draw up an agreement in favor of a better supply. So, they were looking for some bottling, marketing and goods distribution companies to be grouped into one.

The Pepsi Bottling Group and GEUSA were the main companies in charge of these works, one of Pepsi products, while the other of water, in addition to other beverages. These two companies were joined by Gatorade, Lipton and 7up. Finally, Cultiba bought a percentage of the company to guarantee the distribution and invoice throughout the Mexican territory. Later, Empresas Polar de Venezuela joined the agreement to take these products to other countries.

Today, the GEPP distribution line has more than 46 plants for manufacturing and beverage creation. Similarly, there are some 300 establishments distribution, where the drinks arrive and these make the rotation or circulation of the product, by distributing it to the shops. It is estimated that all these centers provide employment to some 40,000 workers.

Who is the owner of GEPP?

The GEPP group was born from the union of several companies in order to be able to take their services to more territories, in addition to having more products. In this sense, the Cultiba organization owns 40% of the total company, it is the Mexican Company of Non-Alcoholic Beverages that guarantees the distribution in the national territory. This group is the one in charge of providing the raw material in the production of plastic and the pots in which the drink is stored.

The other owner of the GEPP is PepsiCo, which is the second in ownership percentage, but the main manager of the products.
